Students from Another Institution

Transfer students from other institutions apply and need to be admitted to both UW-Madison and the specific School of Education program of interest. Please use the transfer application on the Office of Admissions & Recruitment website to apply to UW–Madison. Check the School of Education’s program forms and instructions for more information.

UW-Madison School of Education and Madison College Transfer Agreement 

For students interested in Elementary Education or Special Education, this unique opportunity allows students a:

  • Flexible, low-cost start to their undergraduate degree at Madison College in the Pre-Education major
  • Reserved spot in Elementary Education or Special Education at UW-Madison

Required of students:

  • Meet the admissions requirements of UW-Madison and the UW–Madison School of Education and Madison College Transfer Agreement
  • Apply to transfer to UW–Madison through the Office of Admissions and Recruitment

Students with a Previous Degree

The School of Education allows the completion of second undergraduate degrees in some program areas. To be a second degree candidate, you must be changing your academic direction and wish to complete a degree that is unrelated to your first. A large number of credits are usually required to complete the new degree requirements. You must meet all admission eligibility requirements for the program, apply and be admitted as a second-degree student to both UW–Madison and your School of Education program of interest.
